Tanner Sewell, 2012

Tanner Sewell

Tanner Sewell graduated with an MA in philosophy, concentration in ethics and public affairs, in 2012. He is currently a special education English teacher and assistant wrestling coach at James Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia. Because philosophy is the “mother ship of all disciplines,” he is able to utilize his graduate training in the classroom – largely via the Socratic method of teaching and the facilitation and cultivation of critical thinking skills. While at Mason, Tanner was a recipient of the James and Barbara Browne Scholarship in Ethics. He attended the Virginia Military Institute for his undergraduate studies, earning a BA in psychology and minors in philosophy and writing.
