How does that DJ on the radio produce that music-formatted radio show? Here is the course to learn how!
As a member of Comm 148, you learn basic on-air delivery and production skills, starting in the practice studio, an off-air environment in the Student Media office. Once you master basic skills, the WGMU Program Director promotes you to the main WGMU studio in the Johnson Center (JC). Here you produce a weekly, one-hour show based on WGMU's alternative music format.
Since WGMU is a student-operated online radio station, a fellow student determines when you are promoted to the JC.
In this class, we discuss issues pertaining to the radio industry. Class assignments include on-air work, promotion of WGMU and discussion of radio industry issues.
You can take this course up to three times.
