Explores various theoretical approaches to nature and justification of democracy. Topics may include liberal, communitarian, pluralist, and deliberative theories and their critics; constitutionalism; role of markets; and transnational democracy. Equivalent to PHIL 428.
Recommended Prerequisite: GOVT 101; or one course in PHIL.
