Abstract: What is going on when virtuous people recognize moral reasons for action? I claim that they recognize considerations that promote the satisfaction of their virtuous desires. John McDowell and Sophia Moreau argue that this view poorly fits our experiences as we deliberate about what to do. They hold that virtuous agents perceive the world in a distinctive way which reveals objective reasons. I respond that the desire view actually better explains our experiences.
