OLLI Scholarship Philosophy
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Scholarship is given in recognition of the department's teaching service. It is awarded to a student with a particular commitment to education.
2023 Awardee

Thaddeus Lawson
Thaddeus John Lawson is an M.A. student in philosophy at Mason. He received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a double major in philosophy and political science and a minor in Japanese. His philosophical interests include ethics, aesthetics, Buddhism, pragmatism, and continental philosophy generally, especially Nietzsche, Heidegger, Gadamer, and Deleuze & Guattari. Other interests include literature, music, history, animals, nature, and playing—not watching—sports. In Fall 2023, he received a grant from the Osher Lifelong Learning Foundation. He hopes, one day, to write professionally.
