Craig Barrett became licensed to practice law in New York in 2000, however the terrorist attacks a year later prompted Craig to join the United States Marine Corps. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in April of 2002 and later served as a Judge Advocate criminal defense counsel at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

In 2006, Craig served at Headquarters Marine Corps in the Manpower and Reserve Affairs department, supervising Marine officers responsible for the mobilization effort in support of the Global War on Terrorism.  At the conclusion of his military service Craig was awarded the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal. 

After his military career Craig served as an attorney with the Office of General Counsel for the Department of Defense and as the Contracts/Acquisitions Operations Manager for Marine Corps Systems Command. Additionally, Craig has been a long-time adjunct professor with Averett University’s MBA program, teaching business law and ethics. He is also a Legal Director for the nonprofit organization, Operation Renewed Hope Foundation, which provides housing for homeless veterans; and has served on their board of directors for 9 years.  His volunteer service extends to representing homeless and needy clients in the Washington D.C. area, assisting them in securing permanent housing by resolving a variety of issues in relation to the Washington D.C. Affordable Housing Voucher Program.
